Japan day 1 October 18,2017

October 18, 2017
Day 1

Feeling: This Trip is unreal we bought a one-way ticket to Asia, WHO DOES THAT.
Excited for: Asian food that’s all we have wanted for weeks.
Not excited for: finding our hotel/ no internet for maps
Miles traveled: 5471 Miles
Interesting conversations: we’ve had with people: Met with a guy that was in a documentary on the plane and his name was Jed.
Best part of our day: How nice the people where
Worst part of our day: Jed's head ace. more than 24 hours and 5 sets of Excedrin he is still in pain.

What we did today.
we slept at my dad’s house last night on the couch. I was convinced that I could sleep on the small couch with no problem just like in high school. Nah… it was rough but We woke up and headed to the airport. My dad is going to be taking care of our car while we are gone. On the way to the airport, we were showing him all the ins and outs of the car

As I asked my dad to take a picture he started to cry which was hard. I knew it was coming and I feel bad but I just know that he loves me.

We checked my bag we started chatting with some people one was an older couple who was going to spend 5 weeks in Laos and Cambodia they also told us that before they had kids they drove across Africa! WHAT! That’s the craziest thing I have ever heard! But how fun would that be. We also talked to the guy who was checking our bag. We told him that we were going on a trip and he said he was excited that we get to experience this world. I would say that for the most part that is the answer we have gotten from most people that we talk to in passing everyone is so excited. Except for our family

Of course, I was nervous about getting there. Asking Jed to pay attention and that we were going to be late… of course, we were perfectly on time. My bag got flagged for having food and because I have a zipper on my leggings.

We got too lax and took a bus to the international terminal and we met a guy who was going to Japan for the business he lives in Provo Utah. He told us that he took his 3 kids to Tokyo last summer and it was hard and I seriously wanted to high five him.

Whenever people tell ask us why we don’t have kids I always tell them because we have so much of the world to see. (this is before we decide to go on a trip around the world.) most people will say you can travel with kids it’s not that hard. I won’t go too much into how I fell about traveling with kids but it’s nice to hear that not everyone thinks it’s a dream to travel with kids.

As we sit on our flight that is 11+ hours we watch plenty of movies we haven’t seen. Like split, Wonder Women, bay watch, King Arthur. Ya know, all the stuff we have missed out on. Jed experienced his first airline meal, blanket, pillow, slippers, hot towel and all. As I’m typing this I asked him how he felt about his first no-budget international flight.  He said he loves it because it was on it was only 10 dollars. (credit card points!)

We got to Japan and started to notice that everyone is so freaking nice and they have it all put together and so polite! We got off at the wrong stop at the train station and were so lost and the nicest guy came up to us and helped us get on our train. He also asked us if we had any questions about Japan and he said Japan was such a hard city to get around. but it was easier than the ones we were going to in the future.

We got off the train at the right station and again we where lost. but we asked again a really nice girl if she could point us in the right direction. long story short she got another guy involved and all 4 of us walked to our hotel! 2 random strangers walked us to the door of our hotel. jed and I just kept looking at each other like. is this real? We thanked them... well I wanted to hug them. we got checked into our hotel and crashed Jed had a big headache and he was done.

around 6 we went to bed. I woke up at 11,3,5, and finally got up at 630.
