Happy one year to Jed and I! We had such a good one year anniversary. Since we went to Houston with our friends that weekend we where driving on our actual anniversary, so we had dinner the night before. Jed tried to think of so many different ways to make our anniversary special. We thought about redoing our first date, but the restaurant that we went to on our first date doesn't exist out here. We thought about going to the restaurant that we went to when we got engaged, but they don't have that here either. We tried to think of so many things that had sentimental value but we couldn't come up with something, so we FINALLY came up with something that we could do.
After a lot of thought we decided that we could recreate our luncheon from our wedding! We had a cute dinner with just each other and it was romantic. We made everything together and we had so much fun recreating our first meal as husband and wife,(cheesy I know!) but we got all dressed up and had such a nice dinner.
We had home made lasagna, ceasar salad, corn, and garlic bread with lemonade. When we where making dinner, I was making the corn and I opened it up and put it in the pan and it looked so nasty because I accidentally bought creamed corn?! What? I have never seen that before... it must be a southern thing. I was so mad at my self because I wanted our dinner to be as perfect as it could be. Well Jed being the sneaky guy he was nicely said hey no big deal I'll just run to the store and grab a can of corn. I thought oh no big deal he is just being really nice, but I found out that next morning that he didn't just buy corn...
The next morning I woke up to Jed in the kitchen ( which isn't unusual because he always get up earlier to eat breakfast). He came in to wake me up and we wished each other happy anniversary then said that, "I got you a little present in the kitchen." At this point I was a little sad that he was already awake because I had made plans to make him breakfast in bed and I was thinking well it makes me look like a terrible wife because I didn't get him anything. So I went in the kitchen and he had gotten me flowers and Krispy Kreme doughnuts that said "Happy Anniversary" written in frosting on the top of them with a hand written note and our wedding song playing. It was so sweet and thoughtful of him! Thanks Jed for an amazing one year wedding anniversary present! After I found my gift Jed and I made what was supposed to be breakfast in bed together. We had bacon, hash browns, orange juice, and watermelon.
After we cleaned up we got ready to go on our trip to Houston! We got all packed up and ready to go and then we went to lunch at Chipotle! ( one of our favorites.) After lunch we tried to go get a Slurpee at 7/11 but there Slurpee machine wasn't working and we had to get on the road to Lubbock. We decided that we could just stop in when we got to Lubbock, but when we where driving we didn't see any on the way. When we where driving and almost there we where looking for a town called Ropesville but we couldn't find it, because Jed had forgotten to take a turn and he was so mad that he was going the wrong way because it added an extra 45 minutes to our already 5 hour drive.
The longer I have been married to Jed the harder I laugh when he gets mad... Its probably not the best thing to do but he is just so funny when he gets mad, and he has told me that when I laugh at him when he is mad it makes him not as mad anymore because he sees that he is over reacting.
We finally made it to Lubbock. The nice thing about Texas is that all the roads are kinda connected, so we didn't have to turn around when he didn't make the turn, just went on another road. It's kinda hard not to back track. We were driving to our friend's house when we saw a 7/11 and I asked if we could stop in to get our Free Slurpee, I mean that is the reason why we got married on 7/11 so that we could get free Slurpees.
We ended up eating them out of a coffee cup. Jed got coke flavor and I got what I thought was Pina Colada... but it was banana... needless to say we took about two bites and threw it away... haha but we got our free Slurpee.
We finally made it to our friend's house and were so excited to see them! They where so nice and made us fajitas and because it was our anniversary, they also got us sparkling cider! We were so tired and we had lots to do the next day, but we got a text from my dad at 11:30 at night and asked how long I was going to be up and that he had a present for Jed and I for our one year. He told me that Ron (our wedding photographer was making us a video.) I got really excited because I LOVE our
Wedding Pictures and I thought he was going to put them to music or something. We got one better! Click
Here to watch the funniest Youtube video ever! It makes it better if you know my dad... who is such a reserved person! I love it! Thanks Dad and Ron for making this awesome video!
I'm so glad that Jed and I have been married for a year! It seams like just yesterday we were sealed for eternity in the draper temple. Thank you Jed for the many laughs and fun times! I love this newly wed stage and I hope that we are always that way! I don't know what I would do without Jed. Marrying him was the best choice I ever made! Thanks Jed for the amazing year and I cant wait for SO MANY more to come!
